On this course you’ll develop the skills and knowledge that public services such as the police, Prison Service, fire and ambulance services, HM Revenue & Customs and the armed forces want in their employees. We’ve designed it primarily for uniformed public service workers, although anyone working with the public would benefit from taking this exciting and challenging course. You’ll learn about public services directly through work-based learning and in the classroom, from lecturers and guest speakers who’ve direct experience of working in the sector. There are specialist modules in subjects such as leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills, disaster planning, workplace cultures, ethical practice, financing public services, politics and public service, deviance, forensic science, equality, and cultural diversity.

We have strong links with the fire, police, prison and ambulance services, HM Revenue & Customs, and the armed forces. They continually advise us on how to develop the course and help us teach and train our students. Our graduates have gone on to successful careers in the public services, as well as in the private sector.
