This course will give you the skills that the mobile app development industry is looking for - the ability to develop apps for iOS and Android platforms. Alongside the technical skills you will acquire, you’ll also develop the business acumen needed to help you succeed. This course is a collaborative effort and will be delivered jointly by our Faculty of Science & Technology and our Faculty of Media & Communication. Much of your learning will be in our new £22 million academic building, supported by state-of-the-art technology. There is a real need for high-end mobile developers who can simplify the mobile app user experience and enable businesses to engage with their customers in new and innovative ways. Graduates with knowledge of apps, device form factors, user input technology, user interaction experience, choice implementation technology (native vs web), mobile app design, development and deployment, collaboration and traceability, mobile networks, security, and techniques to maximise the performance of mobile devices will have the skills and confidence to succeed in a very competitive industry. This Master’s degree will build on our excellent relationships with local, national and international companies in a wide range of related disciplines, and your education will be further augmented by exciting guest lectures from industry experts. You’ll also have the chance to work with local companies to develop live mobile applications, both as part of your coursework and your dissertation.

This Master’s degree will prepare you for a career in mobile app development, but it will also instil in you a commitment to continuous professional development, providing you with the motivation and understanding to move with the industry as it develops. You’ll be well-equipped to find employment working with app development companies, to work client-side developing apps for a specific company, or as a freelance developer working for agencies and private clients alike.
