This well established MSc Sport & Exercise Physiotherapy programme started in 1999. Since then it has evolved, with the aim of developing sports physiotherapy practitioners capable of working at specialist level within their field. Development of the course and subsequent modification has involved input from national organisations such as the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine and international organisations such at the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT), as well as individual student feedback. Learning outcomes have been structured to facilitate development towards ACPSM Gold standard level, using competencies defined by IFSP, as well as the knowledge, skills and behaviours that will help physiotherapists pursue a career in sport and exercise. The course is suited to individuals working in a wide variety of sectors that involve managing people with sport or exercise related injuries, whether this is at High Performance Sport level or in a physiotherapy clinic that provides these services as part of their remit.
