The one year full-time programme of study provides sound preparation for employment in the lifelong learning sector and provides a generic and specialised subject approach to teacher training. The course is divided into two semesters and operates over approximately 35 weeks: Semester 1: University-based. Induction, initial training and preparation for teaching practice are addressed through lectures, seminars, practical workshops and tutorials. Semester 2: Supervised teaching practice takes place under the guidance of a subject-specific mentor at a college or other placement venue. De-briefing of teaching practice and professional consolidation of own learning cumulate in an Annual PGCE student conference.
