Develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in the Electricity Supply Industry or use this qualification to apply for an apprenticeship. In this programme which incorporates the National Certificate in Electricity Supply (with the Electrical and Electrical Fitter Strands Level 2) and the National Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 2 you will learn the essential skills to start your career in the electricity supply industry. Your study includes a mix of classroom study, practical assignments and workplace experience, you will learn the basic skills and safety practices to assist in electrical supply. With unit standards including, electricity and magnetism, capacitors and semiconductors, simple electrical diagrams, simple mathematics and mechanics, simple electrical instruments and measurements, the installation of flexible cords, soldering of wires and components, the use of safeguards with portable appliances, testing appliances for safety, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. You will also complete two weeks of work experience in the industry; part of this includes using computer applications for electrical supply engineers. Licensing requirements of the Regulator must be met before you are able to practice in this trade. You must be able to work in a busy trades-related environment.
