Construction Carpentry Techniques

Course Description

The program provides training in the skills required for on-site general carpentry and construction work, including the maintenance and use of small construction equipment and carpentry tools. The construction of concrete formwork, the production and placing of concrete, and the layout, assembly and erection of structural wood frame work will be studied. Graduates are provided with the training needed to complete routine on-site tasks. Emphasis is placed on developing and practicing the hands-on skills needed in the field and in acquiring mandatory safety certification.

Career outcomes

Graduates of the program will find employment with residential, renovation or commercial contractors as framers, form setters, or general labourers. Graduates may also pursue an apprenticeship or further their studies by enrolling in the second year of the Construction Engineering Technician Program.
