This programme aims to equip engineering graduates of varying disciplines with the knowledge and skills to allow them to become effective maintenance managers in a wide range of industries. Maintenance has become a strategic concern. It is recognised that having a well thought out and carefully implemented maintenance strategy has significant financial impact. The maintenance function has become more complex, involving technical and management skills and requiring the flexibility to cope within a dynamic business environment. The performance of a product or system depends not only on the design or operation, but also on effective servicing and maintenance of the product or system during its operational lifetime. Modern technology introduces key factors such as downtime and product quality when measuring maintenance effectiveness. In addition, safety and environmental considerations have become increasingly important. To achieve an optimal cost-effective maintenance strategy, the analysis of failures and development and use of mathematical and statistical models is required.
