The Masters Knitwear (Design, Heritage and Production) will be of direct interest to students from a fashion, textiles or fashion technology background who wish to extend and focus their individual design skills. The programme will enable motivated students to approach knitwear design from a creative, theoretical and technical viewpoint with a focus on commercial relevance and innovation in production and materials. The School of Textiles & Design has long supplied leaders in knitwear and knitted textile design, with many rising to lead the design function in major designer and high street brands. Furthermore, the School is situated in close proximity to Hawick, whose Industry pioneered knitwear production and remains one of the most important manufacturing centres for luxury knitwear in the world, manufacturing for major brands including: Chanel, Prada, Hermes and Louis Vuitton. This programme wishes to attract ambitious, self-motivated applicants to explore the potential of influencing and shaping the future of the global knitwear industry, whilst benefitting from our Scottish roots and heritage. Programme duration MA - 1 year. This is a one-year programme consisting of three semesters (two taught, and one by research and supervision).
