Add a secondary teaching qualification to your undergraduate degree with this two-year program. You'll graduate with the skills and knowledge you need to work in government, independent and Catholic schools across Australia. Your subjects will cover state and national curricula, curriculum theory, teaching methodologies and classroom management. You'll be taught through a blend of online learning and on-campus classes (15 days of face-to-face classes in three five-day blocks). To build your experience in the classroom, you'll also undertake 60 days of supervised teaching practice. You'll specialise in two teaching subjects from disciplines that match those studied in your undergraduate degree. Choose from mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, general science, psychology, physical education, outdoor education, humanities, history, business studies, geography, information technology, media studies, English, arts (visual, dance, drama), student welfare, health education, English as an Additional Language (EAL), vocational education and training (VET) and Languages other than English (LOTE). During your last semester, you'll develop your research skills and undertake a project to develop your education research methodology and practice. This will help you to build a pathway to further research studies in education. Our students are teaching maths, English, science and languages across Australia. Our course is held to high professional and ethical teaching standards and is recognised by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), which is recognised in other states and territories too. Theres flexibility in how you study as you can complete the course in two years of full-time study. You can also choose to accelerate your studies so you finish within 1.5 years, or extend your study over 2.5 years.

Our teaching courses are accredited with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Graduates of the graduate-entry teaching degree are qualified to teach in schools and other education and training bodies in Australia and overseas (subject to registration). Those with postgraduate teaching qualifications are highly regarded for their detailed knowledge of curriculum and their highly developed teaching skills. Secondary school teachers may also work in industry, TAFE, community organisations, private tutoring, consultancies, personnel training, administration and public relations.
