Business Information Systems Honours (BSc(Hons))

Course Description

Business Information Systems explores how information is generated, communicated, stored and applied to a range of business activities. In this major you will gain skills in analysis, design and implementation of information technology solutions that enhance organisational performance in a wide variety of domains. You will analyse organisational processes and information requirements using appropriate tools and methods, identify opportunities for IT-enabled organisational improvement and apply problem solving, design and decision-making methodologies to develop components, systems, relevant infrastructure and processes to meet business requirements. You will understand how information systems are vital to the success of any organisation. You will be confident in developing, designing and managing such systems as a result of your creative problem solving, teamwork skills and professionalism. The aim of the Honours year is to extend your grasp of the principles and practice of the subject, to develop ability for independent research, and to facilitate your entry into industry employment. An Honours qualification is normally required for admission to higher research degree study.
