We live in an increasingly interconnected society. Computing is an integral part of the way we communicate and do business and increasingly relied upon to manage essential services. Alongside the convenience and productivity that technology brings, there are also increased risks of information exposure or disruption of critical services. An effective approach to security requires professionals with the skills to identify and defend vulnerabilities as well as to forensically examine digital evidence when wrongdoing is suspected. Graduates of the Cyber Forensics and Information Security major will be able to identify and assess organisational security threats and incorporate security needs into the management of organisational Information and Communications Technology systems. They will also develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills, particularly in the context of computer crime investigation. The aim of the Honours year is to extend your grasp of the principles and practice of the subject, to develop ability for independent research, and to facilitate your entry into industry employment. An Honours qualification is normally required for admission to higher research degree study.
