Kick-start your career in the bicycle service and repair industry with this hands-on, industry-developed programme. Bicycle tourism and bicycling are becoming increasingly popular in New Zealand, especially in the world-renowned landscape of Central Otago and the Southern Lakes. With the creation of the New Zealand Cycle Trail system, the demand for skills in bicycle mechanics is increasing and a qualification in this area is a great way of opening the door to a range of bicycle industry employment opportunities. This Level 3 programme is the only one of its kind in New Zealand and has been specifically designed by Cornerstone Education Limited and the Bicycle Industry Association of NZ (BIANZ) to provide industry-relevant, up-to-date practical and theoretical training. The qualification has been developed to a standard comparable to trade certificates offered in Australia and the UK and would, therefore, be recognised within these countries. The programme content is delivered through two 10-day practical block courses at our Central Campus, online learning of theoretical material, and work experience. This combination makes it an ideal qualification for someone looking to study alongside current employment and/or for those based outside of Central Otago or the Southern Lakes. During the block courses, our fully-equipped bicycle workshop will provide you with the perfect learning environment to practice the theoretical knowledge you have learned. These practical block courses are supplemented with industry work experience which adds an important extra dimension to prepare you for future employment or for further study at a more advanced level.
