Certificate in Snowsport Instructing (Ski) or (Snowboard)

Course Description

Undertake ski instructor training or snowboard instructor training and supply the increasing demand for qualified snowsport instructors in a growing adventure tourism industry. With your love for the outdoors and good communication skills, exciting snowsports employment opportunities may arise in outdoor adventure companies, tourism ventures or ski-fields. Hard work and experience could result in you achieving higher level positions in the same areas. With the spectacular winter playground of the Southern Alps as your classroom, the practical programme is taught by Cardrona Alpine Resort's most experienced staff. Benefit from the expertise of New Zealand Snowsport Instructor Alliance (NZSIA) / Snowboard Instruction New Zealand (SBINZ) examiners who provide and/or oversee the programme delivery and content. This is one of the few ski or snowboard instructor training programmes in New Zealand where you can gain valuable experience working within the Snowsport school teaching lessons to guests; shadow the lessons of existing instructors before taking sole charge. As well as the Otago Polytechnic Certificate, the NZSIA/SBINZ Level 1 and Level 2 Ski/Snowboard Instructor qualifications and the Children's Teaching Certificate may be completed within this programme.
