Course Description

The theatre major at Suffolk is immersive. Unlike audition-only majors, our program lets you participate in student productions from day one. In fact, all students are required to perform twice and work twice behind the scenes before graduation. You’ll receive practical training with our on campus professional partners at our renowned Modern Theatre and at local companies. Ultimately, in this hands-on program, you’ll find your voice as an actor, writer, director, or designer. You’ll receive either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in theatre, depending on your interests. Our areas of focus include: Performance Musical Theatre Directing Playwriting Technical Theatre and Design Stage Management Arts Management

Internships/Careers Internships Launch Theatre Careers Internships are an integral part of the Theatre program at Suffolk. All of our majors are required to complete a professional internship, which we help you arrange through our partnerships with theatre companies worldwide. Recent placements in directing, stage management, sound design, producing, and marketing include: Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Boston Menier Chocolate Factory, London Company One, Boston Broadway Across America Actors’ Shakespeare Project, Boston Shakespeare & Company, Lenox, MA Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, London Santa Fe Opera Manhattan Theatre Club
