Course Description

Diversional therapy is a client-centred form of therapy which strives to meet the leisure and recreational needs of an individual. This major is the first of its kind in Aotearoa New Zealand and has been developed to meet the growing demand of people of all ages who need guidance into activities that will enhance their health and well-being. You'll work with people of all ages and abilities, learning practical skills and developing your competencies to design and facilitate leisure-based programmes which aim to improve a person's quality of life. This qualification will prepare you for a fulfilling career that spans culturally diverse populations and environments. Studying diversional therapy will provide you with all you require to better support people with high and complex needs whilst ensuring they live well with long-term conditions.
