The Master of Heritage Conservation (MHerCons) is a broad and multi-disciplinary degree, reflecting the nature of the heritage industry. It has two specialisations, one in Museums and Cultural Heritage and the other in Built Heritage. The specialisation in Museums and Cultural Heritage is coordinated by Art History, while the specialisation in Built Heritage is coordinated by Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries.

Students can develop the professional knowledge and skills needed to continue on to advanced study and/or obtain employment in a variety of areas, including as curators, and to pursue or improve their career prospects in museums and heritage institutions in both the private and public sectors, and in tourism.
