Mass Communication (B.A.) in Journalism

Course Description

The Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded in Mass Communication, with concentrations in Journalism, Communication Studies, International Communication, Advertising, Sports Communication, and Public Relations. The Journalism concentration is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career as a reporter or news commentator. The Mass Communications department brings together journalists with impressive careers in journalism and has a special interest among those who teach part-time in the journalism program. Students in the program have gone on to work for national newspapers and by media outlets including The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Indianapolis Star, The Boston Globe, The Washington Times, The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund and ESPN. One recent graduate of the program now owns and operates a successful regional magazine for Southern Connecticut.
