The Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded in Mass Communication, with concentrations in Journalism, Communication Studies, International Communication, Advertising, Sports Communication, and Public Relations. The Sports Communication concentration prepares students who are interested in a career in reporting on sports or in acting as a communications specialist for a sports team or a a sports-related enterprise. In addition to Core Mass Communication enterprises, students must complete a set series of course requirements in the Sports Communication Concentration. Internships are strongly encouraged in this field. In the past, students have done internships covering sports at ESPN, The New Haven Register, and The Connecticut Post. Students may also have the possibility of assisting in the broadcasting of UB basketball games through WPKN which is located on campus and broadcasts UB basketball games.
