Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Software Engineering

Course Description

What's it all about? "Software" is what we all use on our computers - every time you use your email, or an app, or a design program, you are using software. But Software Engineering goes so much deeper than that. It includes the design and implementation of specific, reliable, efficient and secure software systems for a multitude of purposes. Of course you also have to be able to write code if you're going to design a program to fulfil a need or solve a problem. What does it include? You will learn about the processes, methods and tools for the design and development of high quality, reliable software systems. This involves the study and application of software specification, design, implementation, testing and documentation. The degree includes a series of workshops that enable students to work in teams and gain hands-on experience. To get you work ready, you'll apply these skills through 60 days of approved industry training. Where will you work? The software industry is one of the fastest-growing in the world. Apart from software development and computing, work opportunities include telecommunications, defence, security finance and electronics. You could work in the business, medical, power and transport sectors too. Dual degrees: Dual degrees are a great way of graduating with a wider breadth of knowledge, better preparing you for your future career.
