Course Description

The Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) combines a broadly based, inter-disciplinary social sciences three year program with an undergraduate accredited sequence in psychology that is a foundation for anyone wishing to go further and to become a psychologist. Psychology uses scientific techniques and methods to understand human cognition, affect and behaviour. This combination provides interdisciplinary and specialist knowledge that will mesh with a broad spectrum of careers.

Counsellor Counsellors provide assistance to people struggling with emotional issues and offer advice and guidance. They may specialise in particular areas, such as health, grief management etc. Casework and case management A caseworker provides individuals with advice, services and direction that relate to their interests. Caseworkers work for a variety of government, non-government and voluntary organisations usually in the areas of child protection, drug and alcohol services or community health. Social advocacy and activism Social advocacy involves representing the needs of children and the community and acting as an ambassador to achieve goals that are integral to their development. Advocacy can be on behalf of a not for profit or government or non-government organisation.
