Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology

Course Description

The Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology is a fully accredited course with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and allows suitably qualified candidates to upgrade their undergraduate Exercise Science qualifications in order to be eligible for accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP). Accredited Exercise Physiologists can register as a health care provider with Medicare Australia, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and WorkCover. Additionally, your AEP qualification is recognised by most private health insurers. Your degree: The Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology aims to produce professional Exercise Physiologists who can utilise exercise to prevent and rehabilitate those with chronic disease and injury in the broader community. This program comprises coursework, clinical competencies and a research project. You will also undertake a Clinical Placement Practicum within community, hospital and private healthcare facilities. What you study: In the first year of the program you will complete studies in Clinical Exercise Physiology and Advanced Workplace Injury Management for Exercise Physiologists, with particular emphasis on evidence-based case study management, clinical skills development, communication and professionalism. In the second year you can choose four subjects from: Accounting and Financial Management Organisational Behaviour and Management Principles of Marketing Management Social Marketing Economics for Professionals Ergonomics Essentials WHS Risk Management Social Marketing Principles and Practice.
