Course Description

Our PhD/MPhil programme is supported by a commitment to an international standard of research. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessment, Social Policy and Social Work at York was ranked third overall for research quality in the UK and equal first for it's impact. As one of the largest centres for social research in Europe we are able to offer supervision in a wide range of areas, for example: Comparative and international social policy Crime, criminal justice Demography Disability studies Employment, unemployment and the workforce Environment E-social policy Families, children and young people Gender and ethnicity Governance, delivery and evaluation of public policies Health policy and provision Housing, homelessness and urban regeneration Inter-professional and inter-agency working Older people Poverty and income protection Quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation methods Social exclusion and inclusion Social work practice Violence and abuse You will be part of a Graduate School with a wide range of backgrounds from across the globe, making our Department one of the most academically stimulating to study in, and you will have the opportunity to participate in seminars to explore ideas with other Graduate School students and researchers.
