BSc Actuarial Science (with a year in industry)

Course Description

Actuaries work in a wide range of roles related to finance, investment, risk, pensions and insurance. Examples of where actuaries are employed include insurance companies, consultancies, banks, and pension funds. In addition to preparing students for a career as an actuary, the programme is designed to be broad enough to allow students to pursue any career in which a high level of knowledge and skill in the disciplines of finance and mathematics is required. The mathematical component of the programme focuses on areas such as probability theory, statistics and mathematical finance. The finance and actuarial science component of the programme focuses on understanding areas such as corporate finance, investment theory, contingencies and decision theory.
