MA Global Crime and Justice

Course Description

The Department of Social Policy at the University of York is pleased to announce the launch of this brand new MA in Global Crime and Justice from September 2015. The MA in Global Crime and Justice provides a unique programme of study on an increasingly important feature of today’s society: transnational crime as well as the responses taken to it by states and other actors. The programme engages students with the contested ideas and realities of global crime from an interdisciplinary perspective – ideally situated within the Department of Social Policy and Social Work. Taught by leading experts in their field, it offers an advanced theoretical and empirical understanding of global crime and related notions of justice, as well as a solid training in research. This MA programme is ideal for those working in, or wishing to work in criminal justice, international organisations, NGOs, academia and the media. Our MA in Global Crime and Justice offers a combination of taught modules assessed through coursework and a supervised dissertation, giving you the opportunity to develop detailed knowledge of crime and justice in a global context and to examine, through your own guided research project, aspects of global crime in which you have a particular interest.
