The Certificate in Social Services (Level 4) will give you a broad base of skills and knowledge for employment in this expanding industry. This programme includes basic counselling and group work skills, knowledge of New Zealand law and the Treaty of Waitangi, and broader social and political issues. Basic Te Reo and tikanga as it applies to social services is also included. This is an excellent introductory qualification that can start your career in the social services and also lead to further study in this field.

The Certificate in Social Services (Level 4) may lead to employment in the area of direct social services client support work. It is also a foundation programme that can lead to further study in the social services field in areas such as social work, community work, family / whānau support work and youth support work. With this qualification you can apply to study the Bachelor of Social Work or the Bachelor of Applied Social Science ( Counselling).​​​
