Course Description

The women and gender studies program provides students with an interdisciplinary approach to studying women, gender, and sexuality locally, nationally, and globally. Courses in women and gender studies emphasize women's contributions to society and the social, economic, and cultural institutions that oppress and empower men and women.

Career outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to: Describe the sex/gender system in relation to intersecting structural constraints. Discuss feminist and gender theories and methodologies in relation to feminist activism and practices. Analyze the different roles men and women play in the oppression and empowerment of women. Illustrate women's contributions to culture, politics, religion, and the arts and sciences within the U.S. and across the globe. Critically analyze, interpret, and integrate interdisciplinary source materials, and produce original scholarship in women and gender studies.
