This qualification provides economics training and allows students to build on the knowledge of economic concepts gained in their undergraduate degree, opening the way for graduates to undertake further study in our #24 Masters programs if they desire. Core courses develop knowledge in consumer and firm behaviour, the macroeconomy and econometrics, while electives focus on a number of specific areas. In obvious and subtle ways, economics permeates our daily lives and has far reaching impacts. Graduates equipped with an advanced understanding of these forces and issues are an asset to any organisation.

Since the Graduate Certificate in Economics is of only one semester duration, the skills acquired would need to be complemented by other skills and/or training possessed by the graduate. The graduate certificate program would be useful for business graduates, scientists, engineers and librarians as they would gain some skills in economics.
