Graduate Diploma in Law

Course Description

Many of our everyday actions are influenced by the legal system. The law provides a structure that helps society to operate. The study and practice of law is both challenging and rewarding. Studying Law will teach you to think rationally and express yourself clearly and, because the law is so closely linked to society, you’ll also gain a better understanding of human behaviour. The Graduate Diploma is available to graduates who have not included Law at an advanced level in their first degree. Graduate diplomas are generally a one year full-time programme consisting of undergraduate papers. Graduate diplomas are intended to provide the equivalent of a major in a subject other than that in which the student has majored for their first degree. Admission to these programmes generally requires a B average in the applicant's first degree. Students need to gain 120 points at 100 level (first year papers) or above, including at least 80 points at 300 level (third year papers) or above, in the graduate diploma subject to complete the qualification.
