THE CHOPRAS+KAPLAN=TRUE SATISFACTION

Two years ago i joined “The Chopras” as a teacher for standardized test preperation. I had dreams of going abroad myself, in order to earn a degree in Journalism at New York University. With a game plan in mind, I decided to work for a short while and then make my application. I entered this organization with all the hopes and ambition of a student just out of university assuming that I knew exactly how the rest of my life was going to go. As an aspiring applicant I was not very different from my students in terms of canvassing universities, writing the first draft of my statement of purpose and I figured that this job was perfect for me, as it not only defined me but defined the way i looked at the whole 'modus-operandi'!!

On the first day of class I spoke to my student about GMAT and watched her confused, apprehensive expression slowly change to one of assured confidence. A few months later I heard her excited voice telling me over the phone that her scores got her into her top-choice B-School. From that day onwards, there was no looking back. So here I am two years later and still part of this vibrant, inspiring center where encouragement, guidance and selfless dedication to students are just some of the catch phrases used everyday. IE in Spain, CASS business school in UK, Penn State, Boston University and UCLA in U.S; these places used to be a mere whisper of a dream in the hearts of young men and women fighting for the chance to make it big. Today, the happiness of their achievement leaves a few ripples on the Kaplan Center as well. Each of my 150 students were people I have spent hours with. Laughing and brainstorming in class, listening to their confessions of worry and doubts, even consoling pre-test jitters. I hear about their college experiences on face book or emails. Apart from all the good will and the positive feedback from students, i can proudly say one more thing that, “we" at “The Chopras” are the sole providers of KAPLAN in India and we are trying to live upto our and our student's expectations everyday .

They often ask me if I ever planned to study abroad myself. “Why don't you apply?” they ask. My mind suddenly goes back to all the prospectuses and brochures lining my book shelves at home, drafts of admission essays scattered across my computer desktop... “I dont think so”, I answer. “Besides, if I'm in New York, what in the world are you going to do about GMAT sentence corrections and class resumes?!!?

WHAT IS THE GLOBAL EDUCATION INTERACT!??!

Global Education Interact(GEI) AKA "The big daddy of the educational fairs" is not only an event which facilitates quality interaction between universities and students but an event which gives the student an excellent platform to understand and learn about the "new" as well as the "traditional" courses along with earning himself/herself an ON SPOT OFFER LETTER!!.(Conditions apply)
The term GEI, was coined by "The Chopras" itself and is copyrighted as a brand. This fair has come as a stress buster for all those worried and apprehensive students and parents who have been running from one flag-post to the other just to visit a number of fairs which cater to different countries, because, The GEI gives an envious advantage to the student to meet a bevy of universities UNDER ONE ROOF!
Talk about courses, countries, what's hot, what's not, weather, lifestyle ....JUST PURELY INFECTIOUS INTERACTION! Apart from all the major action, the GEI gives students an opportunity to indulge into some thought provoking seminars in issues relating to everything and anything under the roof of course in lieu to overseas education. However there are certain things which “you”as a student have to remember before coming to this event. Like carrying a copy of your mark-sheets,two letters of reference, one statement of purpose,CV or work experience letter,if GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL has been done please bring the score sheet, passport copy and photograph, as this helps the university delegate to evaluate you better in terms of a prospective and a meaningful course. Also the point which should be remembered here is that “The GEI” is an event which focuses on the upcoming session, which means if GEI is happening in the month of march , our attention would be towards the July-September session, and the best part is, the students can not only talk about their courses, but can take a quick feedback about the place and it's hospitality, and many a times, alumni of different universities are also present to interact with students giving them a true picture of the whole world out there.
Finally, coming to the page of information,Global Education Interact is conducted in most cities where our branches reside, the major ones being DELHI, KOLKATA, MUMBAI, HYDERABAD, PUNE,BANGALURU, CHENNAI and AHMEDABAD. Though The GEI has happened five times already, it is about to create magic again between the 22ndof May and the 6thof June,2010.Following are the dates for various centres:
22nd may - Hyderabad
23rd May – Bangaluru
25th May - Chennai
26th May -- Cochin
29th May -Mumbai
30th May - Ahmedabad
1st June - Kolkata
3rd June - Lucknow
5th June - Delhi
6th June - Chandigarh

SO, COME BE A PART OF THIS “MAGIC”.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

UK- The application procedure for UK is basically on rolling basis. However, it is imperative for one to apply ASAP because not only does this minimize competition(in terms of the no: of applications sent to X university) but also provides to one ,a slightly more secured application status ,apart from getting to live some of the scholarship dreams a LOT of us have!
The upcoming intake in Uk is for September. It is ideal for students to apply by April. Even though applications are on rolling basis, students MUST apply well in advance as certain universities (such as the University of Exeter) have already started closing applications for some courses. SO HURRY!

AUSTRALIA and NEWZEALAND- The application procedure for Australia and NZ, is also on rolling basis, the upcoming intakes being for July and October. However, Students must apply 6 months prior the sessional month (for aus) and 3 to 4 months prior for Newzealand.(keeping into account the time needed for applications ,Offer ,visa etc.)

IRELAND- The upcoming intake for universities in Ireland is again for September, HOWEVER, for Dublin business school the deadlines are in May. For the rest, it is asap! (On roll)

USA and CANADA – For US universities, the applications need to be filed in a year prior. (For instance, if one is looking at the Sept 2011 intake, they need to apply within Jan 2010-april 2010 maximum.)For universities in CANADA, the same logic applies. However for colleges, students must apply 4 to 5 months prior to the sessional month.(SEPTEMBER UPCOMING)

SINGAPORE - The upcoming intake is for JULY, and it is important for students to apply at least 3 to 4 months prior to the sessional month.

SO WATCH OUT!
