We finished with our pre-departure on the 29th of August, it was a grand event which kick started with some interesting facts about 'student conduct' and 'lifestyle' in U.K, and these facts were shared with the students by our very own mentors Mr and Mrs Chopra, the do's and dont's went for quite some time, giving the students an insight about the university and campus life, then the event followed into an evening full of interactions, where in students not only interacted with their counsellors, but also interacted with fellow students, in all the whole environment went on to be quite a "rendezvous affair". In all we not only gave an enriching farewell to the students, but also an informative one.
Now, as the next session(January) looks at us smilingly,we have yet many challenges to cover and many promises to deliver, to all our readers here, if you are looking at the winter session, please contact us as soon as possible, so as to we could process the applications on time. "Miles to go before i sleep, miles to go before i sleep" CHEERS!

In this segment of our blog, we will tackle some of the most popular myths which are in the rounds and will also state whether the myth is actually the truth or not!! This read-up might just be a stress buster for you, enjoy reading it :)
1.U.K (United Kingdom) 1.The Recession Story Yes, it is true that the 'unholy recession' did hit all of us, but the myth that, "it is such a down town market, studying in U.K......" is no longer applicable here, the phase is going and studies, work or fun, U.K is the place to be.The market, though is taking time, but is much better now and has almost come back to life :)
2.The culture "shock" or "change" The most important question, while going overseas for education, is the question of environment. The first thing we all must remember is that not all lands are same.. Yes, people are liberal there and P.D.A might not be a great deal abroad, but, it is upto "YOU" what you make out of yourself there! Believe us, if you, yourself know your priority, you would come back to India as a matured head, a head who would know what responsibilities are ,the only thing which you 'might' carry along with you from the foreign land would be that exta weight!! So, keep off from the junk food :) "Believe in thyself, because god believes in you "
3.Safety? Again safety is something, which you carry along with you all the time, though some tit-bits need to be remembered always , regardless of any gender, like :- 1. Avoid deserted places after 9, in case you have to for some reason, be enough prepared to "handle" the situation. NO! you don't need machine guns, girls can keep something like a pepper spray and avoid wearing flashy jewellery, and boys can use their self defence handy and a call to the local police or student helpline comes on the top. 2.Try to be friendly and mix up well in the crowd, because people every where are good, it is the situation which makes them other wise :) 3. If late, try to move in groups 4.Avoid un-necessary brawls or fights, remember, that you are going for a purpose and you must accomplish it with full sincerity and no distractions.
4.TOO COLD?? Yes, the country is cold, but enough woollens will keep the winter blues away from you :) Be sure to dress according to the climate :)
Australia 1.The Race-ism We have seen a lot, heard a lot, now ....what to believe?? The truth is, that such a situation can happen anywhere, be India or abroad, all we have to understand is that we have to be cautious, no matter what time of the day, and if simple facts are always clear with us, we would only have good things to say, after we come back!! Whenever i read the much ballooned reports of the unfortunate incidents which took place in Australia, only one question swells into me, that, why was there no girl attacked in the whole issue? and soon did i realise that, because girls are always told to be cautious.... so, it was not the "racist behaviour" but our own semi or no alertness which led to such a mishap. Problems may or may not come you way, but 90% of the solutions lie in our hands, also their are enough student advisor's and other higher officials who are always there to help international students in any way they can:)
U.S.A (United States Of America) 1.The '16 years jinx' Both The States and Canada require a 16 years education for postgraduate studies, Though some colleges do take students with 15 years as well, however in that case the academic background should be strong enough. but the ranked ones would definitely look at students with sixteen years of education.
2.Stay back options..??.. Canada does give a stay back option to students after their course time finishes, however The States doesn't give any stay back options to the students.
I hope all the information i have given above would only clear your thoughts more, in terms of overseas education, and not to forget, we are always there for you!

SAT SEASON AT THE KAPLAN CENTER
Monday, May 17, 2010, 02:02 PM
Five times a year Kaplan fills up with young aspiring aeronautical engineers, economists and management gurus. SAT season always heralds these high school dreamers hoping to cross the first major hurdle to their much-coveted spots in a U.S college. We see all kinds; national level basketball stars, math and physics prodigies and even ones who choose to figure out their life as they go.
No matter who they are or where they come from, Kaplan welcomes anybody who has their eye on a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S.A. Classrooms fill with teenagers infused with emotions ranging from bright enthusiasm to confusion and bewilderment. First class jitters change into animated debates over Essay topics; loud groans emanate during a pop quiz on vocabulary; mathematical complexities fall apart under intense and energetic gesticulations about why the answer is 4.25 and not 4.85.
As we slowly yet firmly guide them through word lists, math equations and grammar terminologies, the Kaplan lesson books and practice tests start filling up with manic scribbles of understanding. Blank looks change to enlightened “Ohhhh, now I get it…!”
After 60 hours of grueling classroom sessions, on comes the PLS, the hallowed personal learning system. Armed with an individualized username/password access, students battle the formidable question bank, trying to conquer Level 1 (basic) Level 2 (intermediate) and Level 3 (challenge) tiers of questions so their in class training can be put on trial.
Slowly and surely, skills like time management, making choices, building the stamina for a four hour ordeal, begin to inch closer to their grasps. 16 simulated full length tests followed by reviews and feedback classes, PLS workshops and doubts clearing classes to review strategies and shortcuts…in the middle of it all, suddenly it’s D-Day. After a loud round of “Good luck!” and a few “Don’t worry everything will be fine” lectures, the kids are off. Two weeks later, comes the moment of truth. The phone rings. All I hear is “YES!” and “YAY!”
After years of experience and countless sessions, Kaplan faculties know one thing. Their SAT students need the most careful handling of all, because they are the ones who are just starting out with their life’s journey and this is crunch time. To our students, school is suddenly not just about sitting back and listening. Kaplan makes classes about interacting, shaping and making opinions and taking control. Students learn that the SAT is not just a test of their intelligence and hard work, but also of maturity, responsibility, judgment and concentration. That’s why, more than anything, Kaplan moulds these youngsters in ways that make their dreams seem ever closer.
This May, another round of students kits go out, PLS ids are generated and seats get occupied for a month and a half of SAT season. On the first day of class I can’t help but look at their faces and think wryly, “Hold on world, here they come.”
